I became a super star with the help of God and those who stood by me I am going to pen down my some few words to tell you how my story began.
My name is Ajodeji Ibrahim Balogun also known as Wizkid, I was born into a family of six and I was the youngest. I was born on the 6th July, 1990. In Surulere a residential and a commercial area according to my mum I was born I was born when she was hawking pure water along the streets of Surulere. She said my birth was painful but thanks to God.
Growing up was cool, my dad married three wifes so it was not really easy. It was every body on our own, dad cared about us hought he was not financially stable enough o cater or all our needs. He was not rich, he was not poor but he still did his best. When growing uup I was baptized into one of the orthodox churches aroud Surulere town and I also joined the church choir then. It was there and then that I became in love with music.
Back in secondary school I had our good friends plus me making us five we normally sit down at the back sit. In lass we wre bad noise makers those days when our class captain was asked to write names of noise makers our name must surely be included in the list because we were notorious noise makers ad to crown it all I was the oungest among all of us.
Due to our ways in secondary school we were bad and were also good especially academically, WE WERE ALWAYS LOOKING OR WAYS TO outwrite each other.this were one of the things that do amazed one of our teachers. They were always shock and full of surprises because we were good of our studies and also good at causing streams of troubles; because of this we were nicknamed “THE GLORIOUS FIVE”. This ignited the five in us.
Whenever the school had parties the glorious five were the ones to entertain the school his was one of the things that drove my passion to music aroud 1999, 2000 the glorious five came up with their album which include our songs back then in school. I started visiting studios, buying cds, listening o songs in other to improve in my songs. I started doing annual job, pushing trucks, being a conductor or buses around Surulere. All this money I normally took it o studios just to help me record my songs.
One day I was washing plate to a woman in a restaurant just to collect money. Thos days I brought out mp3 player to help me play some songs. I was playing one of my songs when Ojo Jereel who was sitting at the corner of the restaurant eating. I got him staring at me but since the money was more important I never cared mush but I also had a feeling maybe he could offer me a little job.
After I finished washing and got my payment of two hundred naira when I was about leaving he called me OJB Jereel and asked me about the track that was playing previously on my mp3 player and I told him that its one of my recorded song. I replayed it for him and also showed him my songs and the one I have written down. Am sure he was shock about the talent a yong boy like me possessed.
I had cordial relationship with OJB. He took me to his studio there I saw 2baba who was the 2face record his song from grass to grace. I also made Sound Sultan. When I came up with my music career my father was never in support of it but I had to work harder to prove to him that I could make it. OJB trained me for a good one year throughout that one year I never did any recording. I learnt 80% of what music entails and what it could take to learn music.
TO CUT a long story short it was from there I started making it in life. I had full trust in God and he never failed me. I also sight my brother from another mother Naito who had been so helpful. I also thanked my fan or being prayerful. It was because of my hustle that I decided to sing Ojuelegba the song entails suffering, hustle and making it. If you have passion on any thing put your trust in God and he will crown your effort.
